Inclement Weather Warning

Dear Woodway Residents,

Over the past couple days, the region has dealt with its first significant snowfall in the past few years.  Like many communities, the Town has used its entire stockpile of ice melt and our Public Works crew has worked diligently to try to make our roads safe.  However, the lingering cold weather, combined with our tree cover, has made it difficult to keep our wet roads from refreezing at night.  Interestingly, it appears from recent forecasts that our work has only just begun.

There are reports that, over the next week, our region may experience one of the highest snowfall totals that we've had in decades.  We have a crewmember on-call, and we have executed contracts with companies that will plow and sand our roads.  While we do not want to be alarmist, and we will do our best, our efforts may not be enough in a large scale event.

We want to make sure that our residents are prepared.  We encourage you to have sufficient supplies and to be prepared for significant challenges on our roads and possible power outages.  If you have a power outage but have access to the web via your phone or other means, Snohomish PUD has an excellent website with information on the location of outages and estimates on when they will be able to restore power:  https://outagemap.snopud.com/.  Town Hall may not be open.  So, in case of emergency, please do not hesitate to call 911.  To report a tree down, please call and leave a message for our Public Work Director, Terry Bryant, at (425) 290-2130.  And please look out for any neighbors who might need assistance, particularly if there is an extended outage.
