My
family and I have made our home in Woodway since 2000 when we completed
the building of our new house. We lived in Edmonds for 12 years
prior to moving to Woodway. We enjoy the quiet, great friends and
neighbors, and the beautiful views of the Sound and Olympic Mountains
to the west.
For
the past twenty years I have been involved in financial advisory
work with municipalities, hospitals, and private corporations. I
have degrees from the University of California and Columbia University
in the City of New York .
My
involvement with the Town of Woodway began over five years ago.
On the Planning
Commission
I worked on the Comprehensive Plan for the Town, the Parks Committee,
the Pt. Wells Advisory Committee and the Critical Areas Ordinance.
I left the Planning Commission as Chairman when I was appointed
to Council Position #1.
I
am interested in contributing to the success that Woodway, as a
community, has enjoyed. Going forward the Town will need to respond
and plan for impacts from development proposals as well as maintaining
the services we have come to expect.

I grew up in New Hampshire and received degrees from Yale, Columbia,
and Tufts Universities. My wife, Inger, and I were married in Norway
in 1969. We have three adult daughters and one grandson. After service
in the US Navy and completion of training in Orthopedic Surgery,
I moved to Woodway with my family in 1976. I worked at Group Health
Cooperative for 21 years, and now teach several courses at the University
of Washington Medical School.
I
have served on the Woodway Council since 1998. My focus has been
to preserve the forested and private character of the Town, provide
financial discipline in government, and serve as the only medical
professional on several governing boards responsible for emergency
services in our part of Snohomish County.

My
wife Ruth and I moved to Woodway in 1983 after living in Edmonds
the previous 16 years. We have two sons who both graduated from
Woodway High School before going on to college.
I retired from Morgan Stanley in 2000 after working 34 years as
an investment advisor and branch manager. Currently, I serve as
an arbitrator for the National Association of Security Dealers.
My past activities include serving on the Lutheran Community Services
Board, the Foss Home Board and currently the Hearthstone Board.
I was on the Washington State University Foundation Board where
I chaired the Regents/Foundation Investment Committee which oversaw
the WSU endowment. For Woodway, I have served on the Point Wells
Committee and am currently on the Parks Committee.
Maintaining the character of our town is a personal priority. I
marvel at our good fortune to reside in such a jewel of a community.
With my financial background, the long term fiscal health of Woodway
is of paramount importance to me as a Councilmember and as a resident.

Term
ends: December 31, 2013
I
was born and raised in Seattle and attended Harvard University,
graduating with a degree in English Literature. I came back to Puget
Sound, working for my family’s transportation
company, as well as arts organizations and political campaigns.
Returning to school I earned a degree in painting from the University
of Washington and began to paint full-time. I was
fortunate enough to be able to show my work in Seattle.
In 1996, my partner Scott, his daughter Chloe and I moved to Woodway,
excited to find a
community on the Sound which values our native forest environment.
We found a place where
we could realize our dream of keeping horses at home while living
close to the advantages of our
region’s largest city.
The Town of Woodway is truly exceptional in these characteristics.
As a Council Member I hope
to help preserve the unique character of our Town for the benefit
of all residents.
