Snow/Ice Removal

During a snow/ice event, the Woodway Public Works Department keeps the roads clear of snow and ice using the Town's equipment, a F250 Ford pickup with an 8-foot snow plow and sand/ice melt spreader. As long as it is safe to operate the equipment, the crew will be on-site and/or on-call for snow plowing, ice melt sanding, and tree/debris removal to keep the roadways clear for safe vehicle traffic.

Woodway's Standard Operating Procedure calls for clearing roads in three groups:
  1. The Town's main roads will be cleared first: Woodway Park Road, 116th Avenue W., Timberlane Road, Wachusett Road, North Deer Drive, and Algonquin Road.
  2. Once those roads are clear of snow and have been sanded, Public Works moves on to arterials: the Dogwood Lane loop, Kulshan Road, Makah Road, Bella Coola Road, Chinook Road, Nootka Road, the Twin Maples neighborhood, and the Woodway Highlands neighborhood.
  3. Then plowing and sanding of the rest of the streets will occur.
Some residents have asked whether they can assist Public Works by spreading ice melt or otherwise clearing public streets. For liability reasons, we cannot authorize such activities.

Please call 911 to report emergencies such as downed power lines or the Public Works Director's cell phone at (425) 290-2130 to report downed trees or request snow plowing/sanding.
