After a lengthy power outage in 2014, Mayor Carla Nichols reached out to residents, asking for volunteers to lead their neighborhood emergency preparedness efforts, and Woodway Ready! was born. Woodway was organized into 10 zones, as shown on the map below. Several residents volunteered to be co-captains for their zones. The co-captains are asked to coordinate the residents of their neighborhood, including helping all households complete the Map Your Neighborhood exercise, making note of households with equipment (generators, chainsaws, etc.), and those with special needs (medical equipment that requires power, pets, small children, residents with mobility issues). Several neighborhoods have completed the initial coordination, but several neighborhoods are still looking for co-captain volunteers.
