Building Department:
The Town of Woodway’s building policies were developed to preserve the Town of Woodway’s natural and scenic character, park-like atmosphere, and the privacy of individual residences; to preserve and protect the existing and future neighborhoods through strict enforcement of the building regulations; and to allow for innovation and flexibility in the design of single family homes while preserving the character, natural environment including the urban forests, bluff, tidelands and stream corridors, and environmentally sensitive areas of the Town.

Construction Hours: per WMC 6.08.031 B, sounds originating from construction sites as a result of normal, routine construction activity are exempt from the noise ordinance between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm.

Woodway's sales tax code is 3118.

  • An appointment is necessary for in-person application submittal.
Appointments: All appointments must be made at least one day prior to the requested day and time by calling (206) 542-4443 or email kim@townofwoodway.com.

Please call Town Hall at (206) 542-4443 or email kim@townofwoodway.com with questions or to make a permit appointment.

Please note: the International Residential Code (IRC) section R105.2.1 Emergency repairs states, "Where equipment replacements and repairs must be performed in an emergency situation, the permit application shall be submitted within the next working business day to the building official." As an example: if your furnace quits working, you can have it replaced before the next permit processing day (Tuesday), as long as you or your contractor submit a permit application the next working business day (Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday). Be aware that projects that include installing equipment on the property (outside the house), such as a heat pump, are subject to review by the Building Official. If you have an emergency replacement of such equipment, you will want to carefully review your setbacks and ensure that the equipment is not installed in the setback, or you may be required to relocate it.
